Pre-Trump, it was the best place to get complex litigation experience right out of the gate. Once you did a few years at DOJ you were very attractive to biglaw, boutiques, you name it. If they see DOJ they know you have top credentials and good experience working in high volume, high stakes litigation.

Now? Absolutely radioactive to employers. Most will file your resume in the circular filing bin unless you have a connection there that can vouch for you that you never misled the court, ignored court orders, made unsupported or unconstitutional arguments, etc.

Heartbreaking.

To be respectable you have to show absolute deference to the opinion of the AG on any given matter. But to be respectable you also have to know this AG is fraud. The way you thread that needle is to be candid with the court, but that just gets you fired so what's the point?
