42" LG plasma from 2009 is the most expensive TV I've ever bought. It crapped out shortly after I moved several years ago. Most expensive msrp TV I have is a 60" (I think) Sony Wega DLP also from the late 2000s or maybe early 2010s that I got for free. It's probably the best TV I own, 1080p and the built in speakers >>>>> any sound bar I would actually buy.

36? 38? 40? its sitting covered in dust in a corner now. 15+ year old sony plasma (still has the old component connecters, in good working order). might be a "vaio" or something. works great with some slight discoloration in the lower right quadrant.

46" Samsung that I paid $1500 for in 07 or 08. Bought it from Amazon, which was sort of a novel thing to do at the time. It was insanely cheaper than buying the same model at Best Buy.

Crazy that you can get a better one for under $200 these days

considering one this big just because i can, just never imagined owning a tv so oafish. the guides say a 77 or 83 incher works for a 10 ft viewing distance though so i guess it's fine. just seems like it would dominate the room.

i hear you. mine is oafish. and it does dominate the room. but i like it being sort of the centerpiece. obviously go hang out in a costco and bestbuy and look at various sizes and types. or at home, maybe use painters tape on the wall in the tv size, so you can visualize what it would look like in your room.

have been trying to use tape measures to visualize but it's kind of awkward, it'll be on a stand and not flush against the wall. i should maybe make space and try painters tape anyways though. when i measure in my room it seems like it will be gigantic but i remember it seeming more suitable in person. the best buy VR sizing thing is shit too.

tastes will differ. i tried to do a 65" but it was way too small, exchanged it for the 85". i'm used to projectors giving you a massive screen, but that wasn't practical in my living room because there are too many big windows

when I go to Costco and see those 77" LG OLEDs, I really want one. They have the best remote control and user interface of any tv IMO too. Awesome for bullshitting around on youtube, its like a wiimote and typing is really easy
