serious question

personally i try to use stoneware and find that you get all the benefits of non-stick without any of the issues that come with the chemical coatings

The main thing I would worry about is what happens if you take it out of an extremely hot oven and pour ice cold water into it 10,000 times? Will it really never shatter violently? Are you sure you want to introduce this into the stream of commerce?

you just have to trust your metallurgists on that one

i scarcely see modern metals breaking from temperature related issues these days. seems like corrosion is the bigger issue

I think silver reacts to acids, so it would be more similar to cooking with iron than stainless steel. Certain foods like tomatoes wouldn't do well

i heard a funny bit about why europeans thought the tomato was poisonous recently

i guess the upper class used pewter-heavy alloys in their serving and diningware and the acidity from the tomato would react with the alloy & start leaching off toxins

Yes, exceptionally well in part because it has a low melting point and can make perfect contact with uneven surfaces as it heats up and becomes malleable

Keep in mind that the only ancient iron you see is the iron that was exceptionally durable. If it didn't resist corrosion it wouldn't exist any more. So like maybe you're only seeing the top one percentile of iron craftmanship from the era.

No, ancient iron workers knew to go looking for "bog iron" ore in swamps, and places with that type of ore were like mini Saudi Arabias, selling ore to buyers all over the world
