Current worker productivity of native Westerners is up *enormously* compared to a few decades ago. It keeps going up as technology gets better. This arrangement doesn't work for a variety of reasons but mostly because we live in a democracy and old people out-vote younger people to parasitize them beyond their productive capabilities
Obviously low-skill immigration exacerbates this situation even further but that's a separate thing. You need population growth to function as a civilization. Not just economically but also psychologically |

i guess my only point is that population growth =/ productive population growth. in fact, they are so distinct that population growth can result in less net productivity per person. and my theory is that as tech advances, the qualifications to be part of "productive population" continues to grow
