Note that I don't think we should subsidize any state taxes or have any SALT deduction although I would personally benefit. |

Date: May 21st, 2025 2:08 AM Author: adventurous idea he suggested I didn't realize how blown out top 1% incomes had gotten but it's pretty close to it. Top 1% is 682k, average rate for states that charge income tax is around 4%. Property taxes are all over the map, but probably enough to put the hypothetical taxpayer over 30k for the most part.
Top 5% is 282k and they wont be over 30k state and local taxes unless they really try. Like there are places in texas where they could overleverage themselves and qualify for a mortgage on a place that would be over 30k property taxes, but they would be dumb to do so on that income. |
