music production went through something similar re: digital vs analog tape/gear. for 25 years after the advent of digital recording, people continued fetishizing old analog gear because digital sounded 'sterile' and shitty. but gradually producers/engineers developed appropriate new Technique that preserved the best of Analog effects while embracing the clarity of digital. |

Date: July 26th, 2026 11:05 PM Author: nudist up-to-no-good resort It didn't matter with normal LED TVs because the whole screen got lit up during playback. OLED is the first technology where those portions of the image are totally unlit.
So for example the mall scenes in Back to the Future look horribly underexposed now. You really can't see any of the buildings at all. |
