Is Ricoh GR just better?
I’ve been frequenting this sub and other photography subs for a while, looking for ideas and information to buy my first camera moving from an iPhone 15 Pro Max and I’m pretty close to settling down on one of the Ricoh GR.
The thing is: I was even willing to buy a more expensive camera and be able to access some features that the Ricoh GRs don’t offer, like interchangeable lens, EVF etc, because I really want to learn more about photography and I felt that that a more complete camera would be better in that sense.
Nonetheless, I keep finding that my favourite images here are those from Ricoh, no matter what. I got really close to choosing Lumix S5ii, for example, because there are so many things about this camera that interest me (like weather sealing, IBIS, L mount etc) but I still find myself prefering the photos I see from Ricoh.
So my question is: are you guys just really good photographers or does this camera actually have something unique aesthetically that pleases me? Would I be able to reproduce that in a S5ii for example or not? Truly beginner here so sorry if I’m asking dumb questions.
Also, if you reached this point, I can’t decide between the iiiX and the IV. I really like a lot of iiiX photos but since I’ve never had a real camera before I can’t tell which focal length would I prefer. Should I just buy the IV because it’s newer and see how I like it?
Sorry for the big post and thanks for reading!
