Even the 50s must've had enough socioeconomic stratification to assure that summer jobs or after school jobs were populated with Ruinous degenerates who were trying out that specific Ruinous job as a career.

You know what? It's the Clique System. Scummy parents want you to be Scum. That's just what they want. It's what they want. Same with Preps who will bend over backwards to take kids to Activities. I couldn't even get a Ride basically anywhere. And this was intentional. It wasn't purely from laziness or disdain or being "busy" or not having enough Gas Money. It was because the same idiots who went out of their way to "reproduce" want to literally REPRODUCE. That means the Same Clique. They don't mean to build character. They mean to build Scumbag cred. I worked at McDonald’s in high school lol. My “manager” was a Latina who told me she used “spoons” during sex to supplement her boyfriend’s undersized penis. The fry cook was selling drugs all over town. Our janitor had been there for like twenty years and somehow drove a roadster. By the time I was 17 I was already grizzled and hardened.

There was lots of downtime. The really dumb guys were the older white guys that would last maybe 3 months before being fired or arrested. Or maybe they just seemed dumber because they talked more. The “kitchen” guys were stoic and probably ex-cons or something, they didn’t talk much iirc. The janitor never said a word to anyone unless addressed, then he would mumble something unintelligible.
