i might as well lay down my marker right now: the CA electorate will reject Newsom's proposal and the current Redistricting Commission will stay in place. Newsom's project will be stillborn.

that’s fine, I just think your argument isn’t based in reality, especially in light of what Texas is doing. Dems can either leave CA how it is and be disenfranchised or take action and gain more seats. Don’t see why they’d pick the first one.
