Btw I have a question and need an old persons perspective. Redditors are insisting lately that when Nintendo brought the NES out, they put Games in the Boys Section of toys r us and other retailers, and THIS is why Gaming is male dominated. But every retailer I’ve ever been to has had Games behind glass in the electronics section, empty display cases in an electronics section, or behind the counter. Only exception was in the last few years maybe late PS3-present when Wal Mart keeps $20 shitgames sitting on the shelf.
Was $60 Zelda in 1987 sitting on a shelf on the Boys Section of toys r us stores in 1987? All these Losers on Reddit are saying so.
they INSIST that Gaming was more Inclusive before the western gaming crash btw.

I was a little kid during the NES era (you were too IMHO) and Toys R Us, Kay Bee Toys, Service Merchandise, etc had dedicated video Gaming sections, with the glass cases that you described. Never in the "boys" section, but I guess they were usually in aisles adjacent to boys shit like action figures, transformers, etc. Not sure if that was the case for earlier Consoles like Atari, Collecovision, etc I wasn't old enough to notice
