Rogans biggest advantage is that he's curious, doesn't jump to conclusions, let's people talk, and is funny. He doesn't claim to be a genius and openly admits he is an idiot. That's an advantage because he avoids dunning Kruger and hears people out instead of being confident he's got all the answers.

I agree with you re: jumping to conclusions based on prole assumptions. However, what I was more trying to get at is he is much more open minded and willing to consider things that challenge his initial conclusions, and is ok being proven wrong. Whereas most dumbs just dig in their heels and only consider things that confirm their bias.

also worth noting that most of the funniest comedians don't claim or seem to be particularly high iq. the main thing for being a "great" comedian is identifying the absurdities in life, and explaining why they're absurd in a funny way. this skill is unique and requires above average IQ, but not genius level. i don't know any super geniuses that are super hilarious.

he’ll also randomly seize on some trigger word in a guest’s response and go off on completely irrelevant tangents. this often leads to a series of questions on topics the guest has no reason to know anything about. like chimpanzees and shit.

he has a great memory though and knows a little about a ton of shit. so if he’s talking about something you know nothing about, he might come off as smart. but when he wades into topics you know well, he can seem borderline retarded.

the podcast would be way better if rogan were smart enough to ask better questions and play a good devil’s advocate. but i bet he wouldn’t be nearly as popular since his brand is the normal everyman. and the most people are dumb too and hate hearing views they disagree with (even from someone playing devils advocate).
