I liked his environmental policies, but I don’t agree with his social programs and tax hikes, etc. What made him good, though, was that he was the last liberal president who actually had values and stuck to them. The only other president in the last 40 years who has governed based on their personal values and rather than taking positions to win votes was Trump. Even when he knew his positions weren’t popular, he stuck by them, rather than cave like a Romney-esque phag.

Carter was the Trump of of Liberals 40 years ago. And like Trump, he only got one term. That’s what having values does in this country.

His Soviet policies nearly ended the human race. The Russkies hated him more than Reagan from the archives. He was a disaster.

And I’m sure the Chinese hate Trump. When you stick to your principles, you wind up with enemies.

His own party "leaders" didn't like him and tried hard to get rid of him. Ted Kennedy tried to primary him.

Yes, I was agreeing.

Here's a comparison of Carter and Trump.

A principled liberal - put solar panels on the WH, didn't start any new wars. Seems like a genuinely good dood.

I liked the solar panel thing, personally. I can understand why Reagan tore them off, since they must have clashed with the white, but it was the direction I wish the US energy markets had gone a while ago.

at some point it became an edge-take to claim Carter was a good potus.

the truth is that he was a solidly mediocre president, but not necessarily as bad as the one he is caricatured to have been, and not for the familiarly purported reasons.

for instance, he was not very 'liberal' at all (see Ted Kennedy's primary challenge in 1980), and a lot of the damage he did (to himself, politically, and to the country) was in undoing Nixon's more populist economic policies.

the one thing i like about Carter is the thing he takes the most abuse for: his 'Malaise' speech, which actually had a useful message. he went on prime-time TV and basically shamed Americans for being mindless, hedonistic, soulless CONSUMERS, and abandoning all sense of citizenship and community, etc, in pursuit of CONSUMPTION and stuffing their faces with GC/OPEC slop.

how the fuck does him being a "good president" follow from your premise if you believe that the values to which he remained honest were garbage, to say nothing of his execution. u sound retarded.
