National parks 🏞️ were invented in the US, but now china intends to beat America. It’s building a national park system three times the size of the American.
There will be 49 parks by 2035. Hardly any nation has the same variety of nature types as China. The system will extend from the ice cold Himalayan mountains to the Hainan tropical island. It will include wetlands and deserts, rainforests, glaciers and vulcano mountains. And of course the Giant Panda.
Being a latecomer China can also learn from the US - for instance in a better relationship to local communities.
China is not only the leader in green high tech. But also in conservation of nature. The parks are expected to spur ecotourism.
