Date: May 18th, 2025 9:11 AM Author: Pearly sinister center big difference between qualifying and getting it. i had to drag my near 80 at the time mom w/ me to the french consulate in chicago to get them to finally issue me a passport. that was with birth certificates, all the paperwork in order, etc.
but yeah, once you have an eu passport it allows you to: - live, work, and retire freely across the eu and iceland. don't forget, a ton of nice islands across the world are part of the eu. - worst case, tap into the 'free' healthcare of whatever country you have citizenship in - for french, it allows you to avoid extradition to the us if you commit a crime (roman polanski)
if you move / retire to the eu with 'american money' you will be absolutely living the high life. euros are poors who don't own shit.

that said, it's still a good bail out destination if you are bringing over american levels of wealth. you can also generally get around europe w/o a car, etc.
consider hiring a lawyer/service to do the paperwork for you. i only went the route i did since i had the help of my mom, and even then, it involved a trip to chicago and dealing with nonsense. |
