And then the person controlling the crypto can be verified against their passport. Then you know it’s a real person that signed the content. But you’re right they could still sign AI content.
What I imagine will happen is that content will be signed at time of creation. Apple will probably offer this as a service on iPhones |

Plenty of tech never gets there; some shit's still 60% useful at 95% accuracy; other shit is worthless until it hits 99.9%. Obviously, AI videos designed to lastingly deceive fall firmly into the latter category.
But I do think your point about how facsimile tech becoming indistinguishable from genuine tech will largely just render the genuine tech useless. This may end up being the solution to the surveillance state: no one will give a fuck about a network of street cameras watching you go from the scene of the crime back to your apartment when defense counsel can mock up identical videos of the case agent, judge, and juror #4 committing the crime and doing the exact same return route. |
