health insurance is basically for

a. pre-negotiated rates. if you're a cash payer, the first bill you get will be based on the hospital's outrageous book rate for a procedure.

b. catastrophic coverage. if you have to go for surgery, cancer, etc the bills, based on those inflated rate cards, will take almost anyone into bankruptcy

Yeah I know that. In countries like Malaysia you get A+ insurance/hospital for 1/10 the price. So if you're going to retire why not pick a country like Malaysia for your health home. You just happen to be fucked if you get a heart attack while in usa. But then you're fucked anyway. Most people don't really survive a heart attack.

I think I'll travel more, averaged out over the course of the year, I think my budget would be 6,000/mo. I'm trying to find reasons not to retire and I'm shooting blanks.

I'll probably golf more, or maybe find some new hobbies.

Doctors haven't had any increase in Medicare payments since 2008. So any inflation brings doctors closer to taxi drivers. The only way for me to make it is invest in inflation adjusted assets like Amazon and bitcoin(too late)
