GOODMAN--David, died April 6, 2023 at home in Brooklyn NY. Born May 23, 1943 in Philadelphia to Leon Goodman and Minnie Ga-briel, he graduated from Brooklyn College and the University of California Berkeley. David was a professor of molecular biology at Rutgers University Newark, and then successively the chemistry, biology, and research science librarian at Princeton University and a professor of Information and Library Science at Long Island University. In retirement he volunteered as a Wikipedia editor and administrator ("DGG"). He was an ardent advocate for a free and open internet as a road to empowerment and democracy. David is survived by his wife Esther Leysorek Goodman, daughter Eve Goodman (Jonathan Hatch), grandson Simon Goodhatch, sister Judith Barisonzi, nephews Joseph Barisonzi and Moses Nakamura, and nieces Jeannette Gabriel (Ben Justman) and Laura Barisonzi. Donations in his honor may be made to the American Civil Liberties Union and Wikimedia NYC.
