I don’t think it’s as big a deal as it’s made to be. A good game is a good game. Cross-gen complainers just seem mad that the graphics won’t be more photorealistic or something. They never actually care about the game mechanics. As long as it’s The Same they’re ok with it.

No one admits it openly but exclusivity has immense Cachet. Cross-gen isn’t exclusivity. And it’s worse than same-gen multiplayer in terms of Prestige. It also just makes it seem like the current gen version is a Joke or a money grab (or the prior gen version a Mess).

Bloodborne, MGS4, Panzer Zwei, NiGHTS, and Xenosaga are all Prestigious imo. Even Sonic only being on Genesis elevated both Game and Console alike…
