Won't they just blame it on Trump and face zero repercussions from minorities at the ballot box? Seems like a nothingburger imo. Healthcare premiums going way up is a much bigger issue voters will remember.

A portion of them will see that this is Dems fault or at least it would be a lot easier for Dems to end the shutdown than the other way around. Many will remain TDS idiots but a week or two of starvation will peel off a nonzero number of prole / nig voters which is the objective imo

a think a non-zero amount of them might blame the dems. we've already seen trump make gains with minorities, low income, etc.

but even if not it's essentially riskless for the GOP. they're not getting these votes before. there's a chance it'll convince some to revolt against dems. even if that is small, it still means the GOP has nothing to lose, something to gain. whereas the dems have nothing to gain, something to lose.

Under the Byrd rule, the expiration dates are required when you can't get 60 votes.

Isn't the Republicans whole shtick right now that they want to cut entitlements? If minorities lose their Medicaid or whatever long term that's a much bigger deal than a month of food stamps.

No

Libs of course won’t budge and the admin is counting on this turning a lot of urban groids against the Dems. It will probably work to a degree.

Question phrasing is unclear btw

They'll technically go out but be restored the same day or within days. Someone will get provisional relief in a federal court. There's actually contingency funds in the SNAP program that can keep it going for months. The admin is now claiming that those funds can't be used without additional congressional approval. That contradicts what USDA said months ago. My guess is that there's quite a few sympathetic district court judges that'll grant the provisional relief and require the funds to be released.

"While the federal judge's ruling says the administration cannot suspend SNAP benefits, it stopped short of issuing a full restraining order. She directed the department to report back by Monday, Nov. 3, on whether it will issue at least reduced SNAP benefits for November and to outline whether it plans to use contingency funds alone or combine them with other available money to provide full benefits."
