Miami previously (kelly, kosar, testaverde, toretta) for the modern era. there is no "qb u" anymore as everyone essentially runs the same offense.

In August 2018, an Altoona Mirror writer sought to name "Quarterback U" by player achievements, such as NFL starts, Pro Bowl appearances, and Heisman Trophies won. He noted that, in the Super Bowl era, Washington (14), USC (13), Notre Dame (13), Miami (FL) (10), Stanford (10), and UCLA (10) produced at least ten starting NFL quarterbacks, while Purdue recorded the most combined NFL career starts (704). The article concluded that the Oregon Ducks produced the best QBs in the modern era.

purdue got that off three qbs (dawson, griese, brees) but they were never consistent.

BYU should be mentioned (young, mcmahon, bosco, detmer). Lavell edwards was one of the first pro style coaches.

How high was this guy when he came up with this? Oregon has been bust city for QBs historically and this was noted widely for years. Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, Marcus Mariota, Kellen Clemens, etc. Herbert and Nix are fine but they haven't won anything yet, and Nix is post 2018.

So a guy from the 50s and a guy who never won shit? Morehead State alumni have more super bowl wins as starting QBs than Oregon alums. Oregon shouldn't even be in the discussion.

Even if it were true that wins don't matter for QBs, do you really think that other schools have not produced at least 2 QBs who are in aggregate better than Dan Fouts and Norm Van Brocklin? Even if you leave aside college football blue bloods, Cal (Rodgers and Goff), Stanford (Elway, Plunkett), Purdue (Brees, Dawson, Griese), BYU, are all better. Hell, Northern Iowa has Kurt Warner who accomplished more of note than every Oregon QB combined.

USC is actually very comparable to Oregon tbqh, there isn't much difference between Carson Palmer and Dan Fouts, and nobody gives a shit about pre SB era olds. USC has also produced a slew of mid qbs better than Oregon's busts. And if we are talking current day then Darnold and Williams are pretty comparable to Nix and Herbert.

Also, Fouts isn't that much better than Hurts considering Fouts choked every chance he got when it mattered.
