It's hard to articulate, but she's not part of the illuminati or some shit like that. She's the daughter of a marine general, a Charleston local, and she just went down this path of fire-brand right wing pol, and it's just kind of gotten weird (and fun).
I don't know where this show ends, but it's been great so far. Also, I don't think there's any grand plan or strategy, you're watching legit mental illness playing out.
