hardcore bands were doing all the lib feminist bullshit back then, spelling "women" with a y (womyn), etc. my favorite was a zine i bought off some dood in philly in 1994 that had a 2-3 page spread about how fags could do "water sports" and fisting safely without transmitting hiv. this was sandwiched between photos of hardcore bands like unbroken and mouthpiece, all Xed up and going off onstage. odd stuff.
all this stuff seemed like fringe nonsense that you'd find in a scene like that, but it's become the mainstream. |
