Pretty much bet my career a few weeks ago. One film is off the ground. Went to Cannes to create something out of nothing.
2nd night a producer asked for my help after family emergency cancelled their trip.
2 days later I had a handshake deal to finance a $20m Oscar contender subject to signatures on remaining talent deals.
Looks like it was worth it. Post Cannes, I'm playing a few other companies off each other and stirring up a mini-bidding war.

I’m in Vegas and have an emergency deal. Literally once in a lifetime. 140% return.
Call me.
Call me, so I don’t have to do a deal with a fucking production company and can do it with an individual instead. I’ve got five production partnersready to close with this company but I don’t wanna do it with them.

Are you talking about the Imogen Poots movie? That doesn't look marketable
Urchin and Exit 8 have commercial potential

Naw, that's arthouse prestige piece. Not my film. I was at a meeting overlooking that red carpet though - https://imgur.com/a/IXf8qXh
Mine is in pre-production. Working with talent agency to finish locking the rest of the above-the-line down to satisfy conditions for funding. Have another meeting in an hour with another finance co. who's interested in a mix of debt and equity, and a third option next week. Have another offer in hand for half the budget but then I'd have to fill the rest with equity and apparently people here don't have as many millions as they say they do.
All 3 of the films you mentioned had a killer market though. Sales were stronger this year than in the past 5. Mood was elevated and folks eager to make deals.

It made the whole Getty family look really bad so that's not surprising
Mark Wahlberg and Plummer were both 180 and perfect for their roles
Do you have anyone good playing the secret agent guy in yours?

Haven't studied in earnest since undergrad, and only took a few electives, so only a vague background enough for me to fake a one-liner if there are real artists talking. I haven't had time until now to that sort of thing tbh.
That said, realism isn't the most important aspect of film. Film should be about emotional experiences, agree. Women's portrayal in film broadly reinforces patriarchal stereotypes but most attempts to counter that fail miserably from a commercial perspective b/c the filmmakers want to bash the audience in the face with the topic at hand.
I aim to make films that entertain and make you feel something one way or the other, shot like films used to or should be, hopefully have some sort of artistic contribution, and are still commercial enough that they get seen. No use in making art if no one experiences it.

First story...
3am, traffic is lined up around old town. 95% of people are hammered. French locals come in to cruise the strip and spot a celebrity or some shit. BMW with 4 young French dudes going 2 mph in traffic rolls by....and a voluptuous, erm music video dancer type from I believe Atlanta, walks up to the car and just starts fucking grinding and twerking on the fucking car. She's hardly cognisant, frenchies are encouraging her and whooping. In a Southern accent she slurs out "where youus going babesssss"
3 seconds later a gigantic bro in a very shiny suit comes barrelling down the street grabs her by the arm and yanks her away mid-twerk, a beast being pulled like a rag doll by an even larger beast - screams at her what the fuck is she doing -- -- answer? -- -- DAAAANCING BBAAAABBBYYYY, THEY MY FRIIIIeNDS. She was called a stupid bitch and pulled like a child up the street back to their hotel room.
The other French just stood there shocked. She's lucky she didn't get TAKEN-ified.
