'UBI' fantasies have been around for a long time, and most were retarded. but it's clear that one of the early and most pronounced effects of AI will be to consolidate money into fewer individual spenders. a lot of the job market in general is a soft welfare program and is not strictly 'necessary,' a fact which AI is making easier to expose.

all the usual economic blather about propensity to spend and so on actually applies here, since having a smaller class with more monetary 'depth' is going to pull an economic choke-chain against the throats of all the other spenders, and increasingly so over time.

i suspect that things like the medicaid cuts are specifically designed to induce young competent men to join the military, but the overall direction of restricting capital flows toward poors is kind of unproductive. they should probably be topped up here and there with enough cash to keep buying stupid shit.

sure they have

we need to reduce fraud and waste by 100-200 billion, but it needs to be a trillion a year to prepare for what’s coming

the broader issue is that federal government revenue is limited by the tax system. the question is whether or not the feds will eventually need to requisition more resources from private firms to keep money circulating within the broader economy.

medicaid is overwhelmingly nons

i don't even support it for white people. the "experiment" in post-malthusian surplus has completely failed. we're literally genetically regressing, even apart from the ridiculous, comical overall dysgenic machine of mass immigration + a ballooning welfare state

enough. all the smart people are thinking the same thing. make people fight for their survival and maybe they'll find that they actually have something to live for other than video games and social media scrolling and carbs

“i suspect that things like the medicaid cuts are specifically designed to induce young competent men to join the military,”

You’re giving far too much credit to the Neanderthals that dominate MAGA and the GOP. The people disproportionately affected by the cuts are groups they don’t like. They need cuts so they can free up enough room to pass the Byrd Rule for their tax cuts. A lot of their supporters will get caught up in the cuts too but they’re too far down the culture war rabbit hole to notice.

How about you idiots wait until there’s actually a significant amount of unemployment before you bring this shit up? Because unless something major changes it’ll just cause the national debt to increase by 2x in a few years.

90% of GOP voters are on medicaid/welfare/other gov. subsidies.

even just living in a red state is essentially living off welfare from productive states.

Are you going to sit there and tell us that the inflated GDP generated from stuff like pharma and “finance” and government spending on degrees for Losers shouldn’t be handicapped somewhat when you compare it with Iowa agriculture or something

Why wouldn’t you cut it? It seems like an obvious one to cut. The recipients see no meaningful improvement to longevity or quality of life. It doesn’t stimulate medical innovation because the high administrative and participation costs eat up profits for treating people. Even its supporters struggle to find ways of defending it and rely heavily on type II errors
