GROK: The $62 million Phillip Beard Stadium at Buford High School was funded through ESPLOST, a voter-approved 1% sales tax for educational capital projects in Buford City Schools. The City of Buford managed construction payments, reimbursed by these funds.

Makes sense to me. Stadiums this size are more practical in high school than they do at d2 colleges. Big time Friday night lights gets more people than say Valdosta state. Even some lower level d1 schools don’t get the attendance of high school games.

We have some big district stadiums in my town, but nothing like that. Jeez. I hope they make enough on it to get their money back out of it and it’s not a drain on the school district’s finances.

I’m sure they have a long list of people they intend to rent it out to.
