My Sunday ritual starts with the Slurpee.
I take the Prius over to 7-Eleven, get a large Coke Slurpee, drive home, bring it into the computer room, set it next to the keyboard, and hit the power button.
Then the waiting starts.
I usually wander off for a few minutes because there is no point sitting there watching Windows load. Sometimes I check on the DVD collection. I don’t mean watch a movie. I mean literally check on it. Look at the shelves. Make sure everything is where it should be. Pull out a DVD I haven’t thought about in years, read the back, maybe move a couple around.
Then I go back and check the computer.
Desktop is usually up by this point, but the hard drive is still thrashing, so I know better than to touch anything yet. Take a drink of the Slurpee. Maybe straighten some stuff on the desk. Look through the mail. Wander into the kitchen. Come back.
Still loading.
Eventually the hard drive light settles down and you can tell the machine is actually ready instead of merely pretending to be ready.
Then it’s browser, e-mail, forums, music, Gaming, you name it.
That’s pretty much Sunday morning for me.
Slurpee. Computer. DVDs.
‘Nuff said.
