Back to the days where there’s 200 applications within 2 days whenever a decent job pops up. Getting very qualified/overqualified applicants for mid level roles

I get Noah's Ark flooded with resumes when I put up a job poasting here in shitlaw. But what I've found is that it's still a competitive hiring market for people who actually know what they're doing. They sometimes treat me like a safety school and accept my offer while continuing to interview in the couple of weeks before they start, then back out before their start date. Others will quit after only a few weeks.

What kind of job are you hiring for? A small firm or what?

And what do they leave for? A slightly larger shitlaw firm?

Small firm. One guy had a somewhat prestigious background but was interested in what we're doing. He accepted then took an in house job before starting which he said was his dream job (lmfao). Another woman couldn't take the stress and took a job with a DA's office. One girl was a free spirit and just yolo'ed into unemployment.

Had two people accept my shitlaw offer then back out before starting within the last 12 months.

CR. It's a very tight market and very favorable to employers. Way more lawyers are looking to move (or out of work) than there are good jobs available.

A recruiter for a terribly mediocre in-house job seeking 12+ years experience told me they got 300+ applicants in the first few days, dozens of which came via referrals from current employees. If even 20% of those are quality candidates, that's 60+ quality candidates.

There is not much hiring, and the offers they're sending out match the imbalance between supply and demand.

More than that. There was a great job market for years but lots of people never had a ton of upward mobility and hate their companies now. A lot of people are employed but would love a new job

That seems low. Don't underestimate the number of people trying to escape biglaw, escape bigfed, or improve on their current in-house roles.
