the lack of Russian nuclear retaliation after a supposed hit on its nuclear triad is telling.

Nuclear superpowers at my HS declined to retaliate after a successful strike on their nuclear triad all the time; it was no big deal

It appears to be a serious degradation of Russia's bomber arm, and there's no reason to think that Ukraine won't be able to do exactly the same thing in 6 months. Or to go after all civilian air travel.

Can Putin get away with just ordering an (ineffective) Oreshnik strike in retaliation for this? Can he get away with it again next time when Ukraine does exactly the same thing again?

It doesn't appear to be that at all. And there is plenty of reason to believe they won't even be able to hit decoys next time.

What would Putin nuke? The point of capturing Ukraine is to have it. It doesn’t make much sense to just bomb it out of existence

He should and would nuke NATO if real nuclear assets were damaged.

lmao. So your position is that we know no real nuclear assets were damaged because Putin didn't start a war with NATO?

Still more coherent than Russia’s assertion that NATO helped Ukraine nuke Russia last year, Russia did nothing, and none of the nuclear detonation surveillance stations reported anything because of a conspiracy
