https://www.cnbc.com/2025/12/16/aca-tax-credits-house-johnson.html

Key tax credits that reduce the cost of Affordable Care Act health insurance coverage for millions of Americans looked likely to expire by the end of the year after House Speaker Mike Johnson said Tuesday that there would be no vote on extending those subsidies this week.

The House is not in session next week, meaning that Johnson was not leaving the door open for a later vote before the boosted ACA premium assistance expires.

Whats their goal/reasoning here? Piss off the bottom 50% of Americans so they get killed in 2026 elections?

Use the anger to actually reform healthcare? (LOL no)

Care about being fiscally conservative? (LOL no)

The only thing that seems somewhat possible is Trump thinks by blowing it up and coming up with his own handout to the masses, he will win on this by solving the problem he created?

There are people on FB right now trying to deal with the fact that their premiums are going from like $10/month to $1000/month

i'm surprised trump didn't green light it as a handout to voters, but subsidizing demand without fixing anything about the supply side of the american medical system just leads to insane cost increases

needs the money for something else? it's not sustainable for the US taxpayer to subsidize everyone's health insurance though
