I found some carhartt from 30 plus years ago (yes, I have been wearing it since I was a kid) and the quality is so much better. Plus the vax mandate and taking pipe and laying pipe memes.

Saw recently that investors were made Champion sales were "down" 30% - which perfectly encapsulates how stupid investors are.

You have a dead brand doing like $20 million a year at Walmart, then suddenly some hot girls and guys on Tiktok start wearing it, and you make $2 billion in 2020 and 2021.

Then trends change, you do $1.6 billion in 2022 - and investors start screaming "There needs to be changes -its unacceptable to non-growing revenue - let alone a decline!"

You can't just be excited your brand still has 20x more sales than it did 5 yearsa go.

The Carhartt C01 pants are their literal only model still made in the US. It's the only one I wear, I've got like 10. And no other pair they make has the legendary thickness/toughness. It's not their style line, its their real tradesman shit.

Now that im down 25 pounds I wonder if they will zip again

LOLOL. Looks like i bought some of the last USA made ones a few years ago. Mine are in size 32. Right now I can fit them over my ass since im 25 lb down from my fattest. In another 25 lb I hope to be able to actually zip and button them.

The relaxed fit double front washed whatever are not terrible, it’s just not the OG so let’s see what the foreign made OG is like.

I hate supporting carhartt but I can’t get walls.

So the carhartt pants that I bought are not as bad as the detroit jacket. The pants GG recommends appear to be well made (albeit not in the USA).

After consideration of my options and spending too much time and money buying various carhartt pants, I have determined that the Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Relaxed Fit Duck Double-Front Utility Work Pant is optimal as I don’t mind the little bit of stretch in the 12oz fabric (same weight as firm duck and washed duck discussed below), appreciate the double front, and like the five colors on offer.

I would prefer the material, “firm duck”, slightly on the ones GG likes, but even at a 32in waist and my stubby oversized legs with large quads the “loose” fit B01 (I think sold as Carhartt Men's 106679 Loose Fit Firm Duck Double-Front Utility Work Pant at least that is what I bought) are too baggy to look decent on me, let alone anything approaching white collar professional. I will use them for actual blue collar labor days. For those wondering, the “washed” duck version of the “firm” duck is the same material and just pre-washed. I don’t see the point or much difference between washed duck and firm duck to be frank. I’d have firm duck, but nothing wrong with [pre] washed duck.

I also have an artic firm duck coat on order I found as a discounted return. I am hoping I like it, but if not it gets donated like all the crap on Amazon I buy and won’t use.

Bought a pair of Carhartt's today at Cabelas. I was wearing shorts and needed pants, but was too lazy to drive home.

They are about 1/4 the thickness of the old carhartts I used to wear when I was framing houses in college.

Not gonna lie, I kinda like these pants but wouldn't want to work in them.

Can you tell us the model of pants you purchased? There are a couple types I did not buy I want to rule out completely.

Edit: preferred framing hammer? I splashed out on a stilleto but have not actually used it (all I have framed in the last five years is a railing and I grabbed by big old estwing).

Model Number BN2802-M

Rugged Flex

Made in Pakistan

They are thinner than a pair of Levis and probably not suitable for any real sort of work, but they fit good and are comfortable.

Thank. Yes, those are the ones I like the best I described above. I agree they are not as suitable for real work. But office work they are nice and should hold up for years. And I think they would last ok for pro-homeowner level stuff and some reviews have people who work for a living wearing them so maybe they are ok. I look sloppy in the loose fit so no more firm duck (which are the same weight 12oz but stiffer and no elastic in the material). And don’t get me started on Levi’s. Even if they appear to be thick they rip. I do look good in 501 so whatever. Wranglers seem better made and less money but the pockets are stupid shallow. I have a pair of dickies 874 coming tomorrow. $23 or something cheap like that and mostly polyester. Doubt I will like them. I was not impressed with the dickies flex double knee utility pants. I previously had some others that were not as loose as the carhartt and were thick as carhartt.

As a blue collar worker, a lot of people still wear Carhartt, but Ariat is the predominant brand of clothing I see day in and day out.

It’s crazy how much market share Ariat has taken in a short time by basically offering different cut pants and different patterned FR clothing. I don’t think it’s any better, just different. It’s all foreign made slop these days.

$200 for a hi-vis tshirt, and $800 for a raincoat? this can't be targeting actual blue collar workers

My company buys all my work clothes. I haven’t bought work clothes out of my own pocket in like 15 years

FR it’s retardedly expensive and required at most industrial job sites. I think retard is the key word in Fire Retardant

Probably 90% Keens. They don't last long, but they're a lot better on the knees and lighter than Danners when you're walking on metal grating/floors/laddders, etc.

I see a lot of contractors in Thorogoods. Probably because they buy their own and want them to last.

I prefer it to Carhartt. I have to wear FR clothing at work, and that limits choices. But, I really like Ariat products.

if you want work pants just get old school bdu's from the nearest army supply place, they are 30 bucks and the ripstop is solid, I've had some last for years and years of hard use

LJL at the faggot kikes itt talking about the durability of carhartt, when they only wear it being weekend warriors/running errands. i work 5-6 days/week in their rugged flex carpenter pants made in pakistan and they've held up for 2+ years now. and you can get them on sale for $30/pair at times. the only other pants i work in are the wrangler 13mwzs and duluth flex firehose. if you want made in usa pants, just cop roundhouse.

Yes Roundhouse is my #1.

I have so many of them that I even have one extremely rare one- you know the striped railroad style overalls they make? They one time, many years ago, did a limited production run of PANTS in that style. Navy/white striped pants. I called them once to order more and they denied they existed (I had got that one used). I literally emailed a photo to them of the pants as they were on me (I was wearing them at that time) and they were stunned, i literally told them "that is your tag and my ass" after they kept arguing with me. Finally called me back, they did some research with some old-timer at the company who knew the company history and he goes "yep I remember one time we did a run of those..."

Thank. I do like the rugged flex double front utility. I am waiting for a sale to buy more as they are $70. Got the pair I have for $45 or so. The wrangler are good, but pockets too shallow.

yeah the pockets arent the greatest. i just bought dickies carpenter pants and they seem like a good compromise between the carhartts and wranglers. wrangler also has a workwear version called riggs which is also really good. i copped 6 pairs of carpenter pants the other day for $120. they're still on sale rn.

On sale where? If I have to leave my house to go buy something that’s not a vehicle I won’t. I was a dickies guy for the longest but the flex ones I just got kind of suck.

Also, how bad would it be for me to buy a 2026 2wd RCSB F150 XL with the coyote V8 when the order sheets open? And then add the ford performance supercharger and street drag wheels and tires on the back.

I sort of want the 2026 super duty 4x4 RCLB, off-road package (33in ATs) camper/snowplow, cloth, trailer controller but it’s long and annoying to park. The new argon blue looks sweet.

I wish I could get eruption green on either truck.

They come out to be about the same price.

I am going to order because I don’t want an Oxford white one. I like the colors even if they cost me $395.

on the wrangler official website.

as for the truck, i'm not a huge fan of street trucks or superchargers. and i'd never buy a 4x2 even if 90% of its time was spent on the road. tbh, i'd go for the f250. my dream build is something like this

https://youtu.be/cuJBZBIGjok?si=nzfX0wQZfkLHqV_M

sucks that they dont offer the regular cab in the f150 xlt trim. i swear they had it not too long ago because i was speccing out a build.

It’s been a few years since the XLT RCSB.

That’s a nice super duty build, I actually saw that video before, but I would add a bumper and winch. I don’t want bigger tires or a lift. If I did the f250 (forgot to say I would get the 4.30 rear to get the bigger axle and in case I did want to go to bigger tires) but am sick of 4x4s and never use it. The 2wd RCSB is a very unusual truck so I think it will hold value better, easier to park, less obnoxious. Maybe I don’t need the blower and I would probably get sick of the drag slicks after I melt the first set. Maybe run it stock for a while?

My 27 year old 3/4 ton GM should probably be retired (and kept). If not I need to do some body work on her (rockers, cab corners, rear bumper, rear fenders, and the hood rotted a hole in itself somehow).
