I still talk to people I've known since kindergarten and I was also in a big scout troop and worked summers at places that hired teens from all over. I didn't realize it was abnormal to maintain a network of childhood friends until I was much older. It's hard to give a fuck about people you meet in college, but the friends you have growing up can become like family. You get to know each other's families because you stay at each other's houses all the time.
Anyway it makes me lol to realize how exceedingly UNCOMMON it is for the rest of America. Y'all grew up in some shitty ass towns, that's all I can say |

in most cases it means something like "listen to me complain." Some complaining is fine and even necessary to a limited extent. But most of the time sitting there bitching about something ends up reinforcing the attitude that everything sucks and there's no way out. beyond being extremely feminine (in the bad way) this is actually counterproductive
the better question to me is, if you have a problem that you need help solving how many people can you call up and they will help you solve it. |
