The initial oven from the 90s or early 00s in my kitchen is a little smaller than most ovens built today, so there were only 2 available models which would fit the dimensions cut into our counter. Both ovens were basically identical, so we just picked one. When we were evaluating them, I thought it was retarded that the ovens were WiFi enabled, and I didn’t want it, but I figured my wife could connect if she really wanted it and we didn’t have any other choice.
Well it turns out that half the features on the oven don’t even work unless you’re connected to WiFi. And in order to get connected, you have to download an app, create an account, give them your email, name, address, phone number, and share the precise location of your cell phone (I’m not kidding). It takes literally 30 minutes to get this dumb oven connected to WiFi, and it adds exactly zero value other than allowing the buttons on the touchpad to work.
I’m halfway tempted to just buy some 1950s antique and have it installed instead. This thing fucking sucks. I would honestly pay more for an oven that doesn’t come with any “smart”/WiFi capabilities.

4 years seems a little short. I’m going to assume you meant 40, since that’s the lifespan I’d like an appliance to have.
Strongly agree, though, that it is worth it to pay for quality in appliances.

If you’re not cooking all your food over an open fire you are part of the problem.
