An interesting thing about the documentary is that it has letters from Napoleon where he writes to his brother about being suicidal in periods where it looked like he wouldn't achieve his quest for greatness.
That's exactly how Hitler felt- he talked about suicide after the Beer Hall Putsch failed and again in 1932 when it looked like he would fall short of taking power in Germany.
That's what it takes to make history at that level - such an obsession with gaining power and achieving greatness that death is preferable to not getting it. Most people are content with material wealth and stuff like that.
