I’m actually okay with the notion that children don’t have any affirmative legal right to an inheritance. That’s all covered by a parent’s obligation’s under natural law.
But I’m MAF at the idea that the state has any superseding claim to my lifetime earnings and that I can’t decide how to dispose of my estate.
Tax, trusts, and estates lawyers would have a field day with this though. Imagine all of the structuring opportunities if every significant asset needs to be dropped into some type of partnership or other entity where you can transmit an interest to heirs over time. The podcaster’s rule would just be a windfall for the planning industry and a trap for unwary proles.
