Note that Washington was largely settled by WASPs -- although the moniker is often reserved for those on the east coast. |

The only real exception are the Mormons, but they're kind of their own thing. |

"WASP" does not mean Protestant of English decent.
It's a very narrow and specific group of people who were the first settlers in (and around) New England BEFORE 1700.
The early English settlers down in the south and mid-Atlantic ARE NOT AND WERE NEVER WASPs. That includes many of the founding fathers like Jefferson.
And the Scotch-Irish who came later are ABSOLUTELY AS FUCK not WASP.
So if your ancestors came from the Midatlantic, South, Apalachia, southern Ohio, etc -- YOU ARE NOT A WASP EVEN IF YOU are 100% English Ancestry.
In fact, the term was specifically created to distinguish the WASPS from the other groups of English decent in the US like those coming out of the South, Midatlantic, Apalachia, etc.
