The funny thing is this guy's entire role is to pitch Isreal First to the America First crowd and really try and get them to believe that every time Bibi forces Trump to, I don't know, start a global cataclysm, that this was REALLY in the best interest of America.
And then once in the Oval Office a Vance administration would do all of the exact same shit. He would bend the knee 100% but that's only after 4 years of selling the MAGA base that there were always some limitations on Israel and that it was always about America First.

Just because he has painted himself as a mild contrarian in someone else's government doesn't mean that the AF movement is ready to trust him. According to Nick he is splitting the difference. Pay a little lip service over here, back the status quo over there.
Look, it's a tough row to hoe and unlike some kid in his basement with a TV show Vance has to face the real world public every day. It's not as easy as getting on a mic and riffing about the treasons of Yoram Hazony and Irving Kristol. In other words, I'm saying I give Vance and Rubio more leeway than Nick does. But he's got a long way to go to turn words into promises kept.
I'm not personally a groyper hard liner but Vance doesn't scream trusted advocate to me. All rumor and innuendo in the world about what he believes in private means nothing if he doesn't show us some action. It does seem like he's getting ahead of Rubio in the political machinations though. Coming out of the Iran War as the guy who wasn't fully on board is the winning position with the base. |
