Switch 2 sold only 328k units in October. It's running out of steam fast imho

I wish the Miles McKenzie thread gained more traction, that would’ve been a goldmine imo

It flew over literally everyone's head imo. Even the one guy who replied had no idea what was going on.
Metroid literally sells like 1.5 million units. 3D metroid that is. Dread did better. It's a huge amount of effort for no payoff. Basically has no purpose but to be a prestige title for Losers. And it actually diminishes Nintendo's prestige in the East bc it's western-developed.
Also after 17 years why not reboot it? The "4" scares me away from it. I'm not playing 1-3. That would be Grueling. They're western-developed ffs.

And no one even cared about 2 and 3. There is literally no reason why they both flew under the radar other than the fact that MP1 was overrated and people bought, but didn't really like it. Same reason why FF9 didn't really land — because people were OVER IT after the Ruin of FF8.
The Sales Failure of MP2-3 was why they gave Other M to Easterners. But then since it was a Wii game it had you running at the camera or something and westerners just wished it would have FPS view.
I don't think there's really any story to Prime btw and at that point I would just be skipping cutscenes.
Btw Dread was decent and the Fandom hated the slightly difficult parts. iirc I beat it on Hard. doodikoff is afraid of it.

There are good reasons why MP2 and 3 fell under the radar. MP2 used the much-hated "light-world/dark-world" gimmick that Westerners cannot wrap their heads around. You cannot expect them to travel between two seperate worlds to solve puzzles in a FPS. It added too much friction to the gameplay (that was already on thin ice) and was visually ugly too. Then you have all of the publications drastically overrating it and acting like it's way better than MP1, when really it's less enjoyable. So the vast majority who bought it hated it, and it pretty much ended the series. MP3 is the game that's an afterthought. I have no idea what happened in the game, what its gimmick was, or even if it got favorable reviews. The series was dead after MP2. You may not remember, but MP2 was massively hyped at the time on the strength of MP1.
Look at how awful MP2 sounds (from IGN'S review). It's the same damn reason the Lords of the Fallen remake flopped when soulslikes were red hot. Western gamers don't want to deal with the pressure of going to the dark world, but critics LOVE it:
"Aether is divided into Light and Dark halves and Samus must travel to both in order to advance through the game. The areas in the Light World are described above. The Dark World can be summed up in a word: purple. Although the alternate dimension houses some clever puzzles and some truly remarkable boss fights, we oftentimes found ourselves preferring the Light World locations for their variety and for their beauty. Much of the Dark World looks the same, which is a complaint, and the area is generally more difficult, too, which means that at times we actually dreaded going there, especially when we were already low on energy. Still, Retro has smartly created puzzles that involve both dimensions. Successfully navigating both the Light and Dark Worlds in order to, say, raise a bridge in one dimension so that it also moves in the other, paving the way to progress onward, is extremely satisfying"

Imho it wouldn’t have mattered. There’s too much Turok DNA in the Prime games. It’s as if Turok fucked Samus. Even if Prime 2 were bad people still would’ve bought it if they were hyped after Prime 1 imo. But only Prime 1 sold “well.” People hand had their fill bc 3D Metroids are grueling imo.
Case in point, FF8 sucked but people bought it. Fewer bought FF9
MGS2 sold well in part on the strength of MGS1, but was loathed by westerners bc of Raiden. MGS3 sold worse.
