Ulver's trilogie, Borknagar's first few LPs, & La Masquerade Infernale are up there on the BM side, but these likely reflect my tastes in the genre. Nightside Eclipse for straightforward BM. Dictius Te Necare still wins most necro.
Hail to England for straight metal. And yes, I'm a diehard Manowar fan.
Draconian Times is up there as well.
I'm biased towards 90s melodic DM. It's hard to compare that to some of the highly technical/produced stuff over the last 20 years. Allegaeon has some great work, but you really can't compare them to early Benediction. |
