There are million old games like Ultima VII that are cheap as fuck and will consume your life. Ultima VII will easily take you months, if not years to win (pretty sure it took me over a year) for $6. The thing is he was working for Google the whole time he did that, making a fortune. He's since been laid off but he's still not taking any jerb that doesn't pay a fortune.
I think the industry is full of people like that at the moment: rich enough to retire, even if they got laid off in BIGTECH, and not hungry enough to dump a ton of effort into indie games. That's why I think there's no indie equivalent to Ultima VII. The talent pool is old/too rich |
