Novato homicide victim identified
A Novato man who was shot outside an apartment complex in southern Novato was identified by authorities on Wednesday.
Travis Lee Wine, 31, was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said late Tuesday. The cause and manner of death are pending the results of the investigation, Chief Deputy Coroner Roger Fielding said Wednesday.
Police described the Tuesday morning encounter as “a targeted attack.” They believe the shooting was gang-related.
The hunt continued on Wednesday for a suspect. The incident unfolded just after 10 a.m. near the complex on the street at the corner of Alameda del Prado and Calle Arboleda, just south of Ignacio Boulevard.
Police received a flurry of 911 calls reporting several shots fired. Callers said the suspect took off running toward Calle Arboleda. Police descended on the area and asked everyone to stay inside while they combed the streets and surrounding neighborhoods on foot and with help from a sheriff’s department drone.
