I may even stop working before 75 just because there is no point. Came up with the following retirement income/spending plan. The bottom line is that by the time you're done with working you're going to have so much money coming in that you won't know what to do with it all. This explains why retirees spend multiple thousands per month on home repairs and take 12 cruises per year. It's truly insane. Sure you can't necessarily charter jets and go spend 12 weeks in St-Tropez, but retirement is clearly going to be a time of unbridled abundance.

Income:

Social Security - $4,730

Social Security Spousal - $2,365

Pension Annuity - $6,499

Retirement Income Annualized Subtotal: $163,128

Annualized Expenses:

Property Taxes - $10,000

HOA - $800

Homeowners' Insurance - $6000

Water - $504

Nat Gas - $706

Internet - $600

Electricity - $3,800

Trash - $420

Grocer/Eating Out - $14,400

Auto Insurance (2 cars) - $4,800

Car Maintenance - $600

Car Repair/Tire Maintenance - $1,800

Travel/Vacations - $34,000

Shopping - $12,000

Home Maintenance/Repairs - $24,000

Healthcare - $12,000

Gasoline/Fuel - $1800

Online Services - $1,250

Income Taxes - $29,625

Annualized Spending: $157,159

Surplus: $5,969

Fraud knowledge professions will be dead in 20 years tops, champ. You don’t have the balls to greet Walmart doors until 80. Also I didn’t read whatever you posted.

The point is that what you save for retirement is kind of pointless because you’ll get to retirement age and you’ll have these sources of income, your tax burden will decline (at least relative to working because you won’t be taxed on a portion of your SS income and you won’t pay FICA taxes at all), you’ll also probably spend less money (certainly relative to years where you were paying for daycare/school/college).

Old people have fuckloads of money. It’s kind of insane.

Why do you say ouch?

There’s an entire industry of people that con others into giving them shitloads of money built on the premise that you have to “save for retirement” or that you’ll run out of money and be poor, or that you’ll be the really old frail lady checking people out at the grocer or collecting cans. It’s all completely overblown. The vast majority of retirees have never been richer. They have money coming out their ears and no idea on what to spend it all on.
