What's CBS going to do without a late night talk show?

Didn't realize they were doing more than just firing Colbert. So they're eliminating the whole position? They're just not going to have a host?
This doesn't make any sense. BTW Colbert was only making $15 million, this isn't a crazy amount of money for drawing 2 million viewers. I know he has a whole staff too that need to get paid. But this the whole cost of the operation is about as much as the bench of an NBA team. This isn't crazy money. I thought these guys made like 50 million. Guess not. They're like equivalent to a 3 and D basketball player. Weird.
I thought the whole business model of CBS was to have a flagship show that peddled all of their low budget network content. How are they going to get proles to watch their boring cop shows?

One of the variables here is just how old primetime TV viewers now are:
"Of the five networks, Fox had the youngest median age (58.1), with CBS having the oldest (67.8), followed by ABC (65.5), NBC (64.9) and The CW (65.2)."
What 67-year-olds do CBS even have a hope of holding onto in the late night slot? And you can forget about anyone watching Taylor Tomlinson's Gen Z slop.
Americans have gotten older and these shows aren't what they used to be. The AVERAGE age of a CBS viewer is a median Boomer.
