unironically AI is part of what helped me finally acknowledge i was, at some point in my life at least, good at writing. at a young age I internalized the entire process of obsessing over every word and how someone would read it in their head as "naturally being part of how you write". the modern sea of pure AI slop, and how godawful it is to read as a human being, forced me to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, I was actually good at it. there's something inherently undeniably destestable about AI writing. it marches on eviscerating knowledge work (especially what i do for a living) at a furious pace, but somehow GPT 5.6 is a *worse* writer than 4.5 or whatever. anthropic models can write nigh-perfect code but the comments they make are truly atrocious jargon-filled word salad. etc.
my most shitlib position is probably how our education system can really beat the enjoyment out of something a person is naturally good at. a white male kid in school is passably good at math = infinite praise, but a good writer = who cares.
