(The payment will be treated as royalty income (generally taxed as ordinary income)). For purposes of the hypo, the date in which you received the death penalty will not affect the time of the initial payment. After the 12th December 31 you will receive your 12th payment of a million dollars and you will have your sentence commuted but will lose the ability to vote. |
