The problem is that the games are hard coded to run at fixed speeds and response times, so there was no noticable difference from running them at 30fps vs 100+. I think the main issue is that the Switch can't even hit 30fps consistently, so an emulator is going to seem faster. If the new Switch hardware can hit 30fps consistently it's going to feel like an upgrade, whereas if it targets 60fps but occasionally dips into the 30s, it's going to feel laggy.
