Unpopular opinion…I think most hot dog vendors are backed by cartel money..they are EVERYWHERE..outside of every sporting event/concert venue..someone is getting a cut of the money they make..I’ve seen some who take cards outside of Sofi stadium..

These people sell not only hot dogs, but increasingly, everything else too. I've seen pizza, bbq, kebab, Mexican obviously, sandwiches, you name it.

They then park right outside real restaurants and openly undercut them, sometimes benefiting from parking spots dedicated to those restaurants.

The arguments against them basically boil down to cleanliness, costs of compliance incurred by real restaurants, and noise and trash on public sidewalks. People have to decide what kind of society they want to live in and many people thankfully hate these fucks because that's not what we do here.

Now if you don't believe in any commercial zoning at all fine but then bars and restaurants many couldn't afford to exist at all if they were being undercut all the time. Yes, it's technically a scam, but so are movie theaters and airports.

In any legal business you'd be denied a permit to operate a business that undercut everyone around them. But because they're illegals they're sacred cows in liberal California.

There is a largely Mexican area called Pilsen in Chicago, with a smattering of hipsters and students. In recent years, there has been a shitstorm, funded in part by outside money and manned by outside hired help, to prevent anyone from opening "nice" restaurants in the neighborhood. "Nice" meaning anything that is owned by whites or non-local investors. They flat out say that they don't want them competing with neighborhood (meaning mexican) business owners and don't want them attracting outsiders (meaning white people) to the area resulting in increased demand. They think they are entitled to a safe zone for themselves to operate free from outside forces or competition in order to maintain a cultural brown barrio that is enforced through intimidation and the Aldermanic system in Chicago (you can't do anything without Alderman approval).
