I wasn't thinking of gas stations or giant chains like Domino's and pizza Hut. More the smaller chains and local places that are just as cheap but much better.
Smaller burger places don't really compete on price with McDonald's or whatever, and even at McDonald's, you're spending around $10 for some really shitty food.
For about $11, I can get a large pizza at a local small chain that tastes good and is more filling. Can get a ton of options at around $15 that can feed multiple people (about the price of a single 5 guys meal).
It used to be that, despite being a cheap food, pizza was way more expensive on a per-person basis than 99 cent double cheeseburgers, 99 cent junior bacon cheeseburgers, 2 dollar whoppers, etc.
