yes. also a lot of upper div. physics requires you to use linear algebra the same way lower div. physics requires you to use calc.
i will say that doing manual matrix operations is tedious as fuck and possibly my least favorite thing math-wise. linear algebra is one of my least favorite math courses.

some linear algebra courses mix diff eq. and linear algebra though.

It's a lot clearer once you stop thinking in terms of matrices and start thinking in terms of linear operators, imo.
