So my university job has 4 people on a team working 10hr shifts 7nights in a row, 3 such teams... our department expanded budget to hire a 5th person and we have not hired anyone for the past year. It is becoming obvious they intentionally slow down the hiring process so they could get 20% more free labor out of us. My boss works on my team and routinely stays 30-60mins late to finish work. I usually just leave on time without saying "good night" because I already did at least 20% more work than I'm supposed to. On rare occasion the work is caught up the boss makes sure to tell everyone "good night" personally
I would delve more into it, but that's futile. Need to just stop doing free labor. When I interview for other jobs I ask them right away "rates, hours, or don't waste my time"
