pretty much the same.
goldeneye: popularized local, splitscreen multiplayer in FPS
halo: popularized easy to set up LAN parties (four to a console rather than one to a desktop on PC) in FPS

Quoting myself:
"Goldeneye was the first "good" console FPS. It defined a generation of games.
Perfect Dark came out three years later, at the tail end of that generation. It was better, sure. But it wasn't exceptional for the time it was released.
Halo came out just one year after PD and defined another generation. Games like Halo and Goldeneye set a standard, innovate and define an era of gaming. Games like PD are just incremental improvements."

Halo. It popularized garbage like regening health and only being able to carry 2 weapons which is in now in pretty much 90% of all contemporary FPSs. The later iterations implemented online play, which has come to replace split-screen and LAN on consoles.
Cold truth: Goldeneye was a pretty shitty game. It controls like ass and had shitty frames per second. I wouldn't recommend playing it today unless you want to rape your own childhood memories.

CR. Some other stuff I like:
-You can "fail" a mission and keep playing which allows for some funny hijinks. Most games force you to restart immediately these days.
-I like the mix of linear and non-linear levels, which makes it feel more like you're fighting somewhere "real."
-I like that there are actual mission objectives reflecting the fact you're a secret agent. Lots of FPS games used to be like this but it seems like very few are today.
-The music is really really good.

Hard to say. Golden eye brought console FPS to everyone.
Halo was the first truly 3D FPS - jumping, stick grenades, higher ground.
